Virna P Setyorini is a journalist of Antara News Agency (The Indonesian News Agency) based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her work has been published in The Jakarta Post, Kompas, Media Indonesia, Republika, Tempo, Bisnis Indonesia, and many online media. She has a degree in communication science with a focus in journalistic and broadcasting from Mercu Buana University.
Her prior journalistic experience was covering Yogyakarta 5,9 SR earthquake (May, 2006), Padang 7,6 SR earthquake (September, 2009), World Ocean Conference (WOC) and Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) in Manado (2009), test drive session for world pre-launch Chevrolet Volt in Shanghai (2010), annual automotive expo The Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in 2009–2011, Air Asia QZ8501 crash at Pangkalan Bun in 2015, COP 21 in Paris (2015), Sail Indonesia; Sail Bunaken (2009), flag off yacht rally Sail Banda in Darwin (2010), Sail Morotai (2012), Sail Komodo (2013).
She was responsible to coverage economic news regarding Indonesia’s marine and fisheries, Indonesia’s and world automotive industry, and forestry for four years before responsible to coverage any law news regarding corruption eradication issue in Indonesia for two years in 2011. Now she is responsible to coverage any news regarding welfare, environment, science, and conservation. Her work has been honoured with awards by Marine and Fisheries Ministry and Yayasan Perspektif Baru. Travel and photography, pair of activities that become an integral part of her life. She has finished “A Book For Lovely Nieces” as her personal photography project. Now she is starting to prepare another book as a summary of her journey in the 10 ASEAN countries within the last four years.
